An article on how our brains works when it sees a face... I never understood why when I look at someone's face reflection in the mirror, the image I'm perceiving is different from what I usually see. I thought the problem was me, but actually...
And it is for the same reason why when we look at ourself in the mirror, we'd perceive ourself as fine looking, but then, when we look at ourself in a photo...we go 'nah-ah'. It's just as if...these are 2 different people. Interesting euh?
Weird day let me tell you. I agreed to go work today to help out because they were missing a nurse (retired), but it was a bad idea. Right at 8h45, a patient yelled, " j'veux mon sucre? Je lui ai dit à la préposée de me laisser mon sucre pour mon café! Mais elle est partie avec. Allez me chercher mon sucre. " Then, I replied, " oui attendez, je dois prendre vos signes vitaux avant". She was in a isolation room, I cannot just dressed up and undressed every 5 min for the Queen demands, so when I undressed, she said, "y'a personne dans le corridor que vous pouvez demander? Ah...c'est pas comme si on attendais jamais ici. Et on se fait réveiller à 4 du matin". Well, that I give it to her. It's impossible to sleep in a hospital unless you're bored to hell.
Talking about undressing, I had an 80's patient who kept taking off her hospital jacket as soon as I leave her room... Ha. Then, I told a collegue it has been a while since I last had to run around like a lost chicken. She says I'm crazy, that she is always in a rush working day shifts and nobody finishes at 16h00. Even with me in, there was a 'sick' nurse so we were left minus one. They'd be minus 2 tomorrow cuz I'm not working!!! But seriously, I've tried 10 patients (evening shift) before...I guess 6 is still ok. And people who think that day shift is busier are mad clueless, because they haven't tried evening shifts hard enough.
